‘The Prototypes’ need no introduction, if you are a bass music fan of any genre & you’ve never heard of this incredible DJ & Production outfit then where have you been?
‘The Prototypes’ aka ‘Chris Garvey’ & ‘Nick White’ have become synonymous with their EPIC big room Drum & Bass sound & for consistently slaying dancefloors across the globe with precision accuracy since 2010 when they burst on to the scene with releases on Shogun Audio, Infrared & Formation records - This was the birth of an amazing partnership...
Let’s fast forward to 2015 when ‘The Prototypes’ released their critically acclaimed debut ‘City Of Gold’ LP on Viper Recordings. The album smashed its way in to the UK Top 40 Dance Charts after receiving incredible support from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Mistajam & Greg James as well as the who’s who of the Bass Music world...even picking up a Sony Bass Music Award along the way... It felt like a milestone reached in their short careers but one that only helped raise ambitions amongst Chris & Nick... So what next?
After months of careful planning behind the scenes ‘The Prototypes’ launched their brainchild ‘Get Hype Records’ in 2016 with their debut label track ‘Rocket Guns Blazin’ - to some this was seen as a brave move after achieving such success previously but they knew it was time to go it alone. The track smashed its way to Number 1 in the charts after receiving high praise & support from the dons ‘Andy C’, Pendulum, Netsky & Friction to name but a few - A new chapter was born - ‘Chris’ & ‘Nick’ quickly followed this up with ‘Transmission’ as they teamed up with UKF & Desperados to create a visually stunning video masterpiece - the bar was well & truly set for the rest to follow - Successive chart topping releases followed from ‘The Prototypes’ with the dance floor anthem ‘Electric’ & the mighty Grime infused Neuro masterpiece ‘Levelz’ which set out the diverse influence ‘Chris’ & ‘Nick’ are bringing to Drum & Bass. Off the back of this success ‘The Prototypes’ teamed up with legendary producer ‘TC’ as they were asked to create the soundtrack for ‘EDC Las Vegas’ - Their track ‘Species’ conveyed the sheer energy of one of the biggest festivals in the world & stamped their mark firmly in the U.S.A.
The right people were obviously paying attention to this movement as only truly respected executioners are tasked with remixing the likes of Pendulum, Netsky, The Prodigy & Bad Company to name just a few & ‘The Prototypes’ can gladly tick all of those off their to do list in 2018.
Very much in keeping with their forward thinking progressive sound ‘The Prototypes’ & their label ‘Get Hype Records’ have nurtured an environment that allows producers to truly express themselves - the signings of Leeroy Thornhill, Malux, Glitch City & Night Shift show the commitment to bringing new talent through as well as working with some of the best, diverse producers in the game from Bladerunner to Smooth to Levela to Makoto to Sub Zero & Mind Vortex - The list goes on. This all reflects on the the attitude & influences ‘The Prototypes’ have towards the scene & music they love so much.
Taking on a gruelling international tour schedule year after year that rivals that of the biggest names in dance music - 2018 has already seen ‘Chris’ & ‘Nick’ take Drum & Bass to Asia as well as America & Canada which included a huge performance at the mighty EDC Las Vegas. A festival schedule throughout the U.K & Europe this Summer saw ‘The Prototypes’ smash sets at Southwest Four Festival, Hospitality On The Beach, Liquicity & Let It Roll where they hosted their own stage & even created music for the opening ceremony - Without question ‘The Prototypes’ are truly on their way to the top & a force to be reckoned with ...
