Richard Burki is a technology evangelist and the founder of Future Phonic Studios: renowned for crafting immersive 3D auditory experiences for award-winning projects in cinema, virtual reality, theatre, games, music and a variety of location-based experiences ranging from holographic shows to fashion events, projection mapping, fulldome and immersive venues.
Burki is a (83x) Gold, (34x) Platinum, (2x) Diamond and (2x) Grammy-certified engineer, sound artist and producer known for working with artists such as Max Cooper, Robot Koch, Colin Stetson, Tiesto, David Guetta, Mason, The Metropole Orchestra, Joep Beving, Bats for Lashes, Afrojack, Sam Feldt, Luciano, Dragonette, Lost Frequencies, Tyga, Bakermat, Rémy Van Kesteren, Luxe, Gabry Ponte, English Teacher, Cero Ismael, Isobel Waller Bridge and many more.
Future Phonic Studios’ productions have consistently received accolades in their respective industries: from the Music and Sound Awards to best sound for full-dome experience and several film festival awards, with works featured at ADE, The Barbican London, NXT Amsterdam, Outernet SoHo, Paris Fashion Week, Amsterdam Fashion Week and showcases for Dolby and L-acoustics. The studio was also amongst the very first Dolby Atmos studios for music, equipped in 2014 and certified in 2017; their early adoption garnered a reputation for their unique approach to 3D productions that has seen artists; particularly those concerned with the integrity of their work in these formats, returning consistently.
Future Phonic Studios projects have become the reference for leading academics, technology developers, artists and institutions in the field. Rather than being rooted in realism; Burki’s works chase surrealism: using spatial technology to create something more visceral, more memorable and more realistic than reality itself; all whilst offering a glimpse into the future of the digital and experiential landscape.
