Punks Jump Up (GB)

Artist
Londoner Joe Attard & the Swede David Andersson are the two likeminded opposites that make up Punks Jump Up. During the last 4 years they have released disco club smashes like Feels Good, Blockhead, Get Down (Special CCCrash Mixxx), Dance To Our Disco, Chimes pt 1 & Mr Overtime feat Dave1 on labels like Kitsune, Moda & klein. In addition to their own releases they have also done official remixes of everyone from Miike Snow, Oliver, Moonlight Matters, Two Door Cinema Club, St Lucia, Lykke Li, Gossip, Robyn, Ladyhawke, Crystal Castles, Chromeo, Tiga to Joakim, Ladytron, Yelle, In Flagranti, Supermen Lovers & Peter Bjorn & John. Joe & David come from a background punk & dance music, street art, fashion, style & they love the cutting edge of alternative culture but have never shied from a good melody. Punks Jump Up started in 2004 by putting on parties in east London for proto hipsters, fashion suspects & weirdos in general. The 'anything goes' policy typical of the area & zeitgeist summed up Joe & David's taste & musical outlook & this has followed them into the life of producing music & creating the visual aspect of the PJU universe. In 2004 they set up their own label Cassette Records, responsible for the release of their first 12" called Be You (Beep Beep) & one of the earliest releases from Simian Mobile Disco. Cassette released a handful of 12" EPs with original, quirky but accessible dance music. The releases were also famous at the time for their hand screen print sleeves. During all this time Punks Jump Up have also been touring heavily & going to pretty much every country in Europe & also USA, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, China, Singapore & Jakarta. Touring aside, Joe & David have spent most of the last year working on new Punks Jump Up releases. The latest release is the Feels Good/Future Is Now EP which is a co-lab with the demon producer Martin Dubka (Tyson, Ali Love). The track Feels Good features the great London based singer Saint Saviour & is an ode to ABBA, Giorgio Moroder & Soulwax. Future Is Now is a homage to all things jacking & is directly aimed for the clubs. The Feels Good track comes with slamming remixes by Moonlight Matters & Mighty Mouse. Punks Jump Up have just been touring Australia & now they're will focusing the rest of the year in completing the first PJU album which is aimed for a spring -13 release. Watch this space!
