Billy Love (US)

Artist

William Beaver (aka Billy Love) is a house and techno vocalist and producer.
Born in Detroit, he is most known for his vocal work and singing in the early techno scene, but the totality of his
works span the genres of cosmic funk, dance, new wave, R & B, and jazz. Coming from a family of Motown singers,
Beaver grew up with a microphone in his hand. At ayoung age, he sang with the 80s group Kiara (Arista Recordings).
Returning home after tour as a young boy, be became the front vocalist for the formative Detroit house group Members of the House (Underground
Resistance, 1991), officially bringing Motown-style gospel vocals to techno. Proving there is space for vocals in the futuristic soul sound, the popular group was often referred to as "The Temptations of Techno".

Over the last 30 years, Beaver's iconic voice has been a staple in the Detroit electronic music sound. He has worked with many major international artists being
featured on albums by Members of Parliment Funkadelic, Enema Squad, Jeff Mills, Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Moodyman, Seth Troxler, Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig,
Theo Parrish, Norm Talley, Keith Tucker, Ron Trent, Delano Smith, Omar S., Gerald Mitchell, Gregory Del Peiro, Detroit Westside Kings, Julius Papp, Rotating
Assembly, Jessie Outlaw and many more.

Less publicaly known, Beaver was also always found with a camera in his hand interviewing and recording the culture of Detroit's electronic music movement. He
created "Glimpse Magazine" in 1991 as a trade publication from Detroit interviewing relevant artists, fashion icons, and documenting the culture of the 90s underground2 scene.

A remake of this original magazine with never-scene before interactive video footage has just been released: glimpsedetroit.com.
