Aroop Roy is a London-based DJ, producer and label head, who blends together the electronic edge of House, Disco and Broken beat with the soulful organic sounds of Afro, Latin, and Jazz.
His eclectic productions have been supported by tastemakers and DJs from diverse scenes and generations and he has released music on an ever-growing list of labels including Delusions of Grandeur, House of Disco and Gamm.
As a DJ, Aroop has toured in 5 continents playing over 40 cities. Like his productions, Aroop's DJ sets are always a performance full of musicality and style. The respect he has earned as an eclectic tastemaker is clear with guest mixes for Gilles Peterson's Worldwide programme, deep house pioneers Freerange Records and broken beat leaders CO-OP amongst many others.
In 2018, he launched his label Vive La Musique. The 'Tabala Mouv' 12" became one of the most successful records of the year, receiving universal acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Mixmag and DJ Mag. The release earned Record of the Week at several influential stores including, Rush Hour, Phonica and Sounds of the Universe and topped Juno Record's monthly chart after only 2 weeks. The follow-up 12" looks to be equally successful, with Aroop's edit of Sammy Massamba's 'Azali' due to be awarded 10/10 in October's Mixmag and selected as 'Tune of the Month'.
