Electronic music today is built on the fearless creativity of pioneers who came before. An Ode to The Pioneers is a compilation that honours those originators, from Björk and Eartha Kitt to Grace Jones, Suzanne Ciani, Wendy Carlos and more, through new works created by contemporary artists who carry their legacy forward.
In this special listening session at ADE Lab, Lara Somogyi and Kate Simko will guide you through selections from the unreleased Mercury KX / Decca compilation, sharing their own contribution alongside stories of how the project came together. The record features tracks by artists such as Arushi Jain, Loraine James, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, rRoxymore, Hinako Omori, Jlin, Laurel Halo and Afrodeutsche, each one representing a dialogue across generations.
This is an intimate moment to slow down, listen and reflect on the profound influence of femme pioneers in shaping electronic music culture. By celebrating their groundbreaking work, An Ode to The Pioneers highlights how their spirit continues to inspire the artists of today and tomorrow.
