Dutch Composers NOW Presents: Close To Your Head w/ Petra Strahovnik - AMAZED by Time

Underground pop-idol Lisa (@lisaislive) presents "Close To Your Head", a collection of visual works from composers who combine the real and the electronic in brittle, human forms. All working in groundbreaking ways, combining classical composing with contemporary techniques. Feel the friction of skin on skin, intricacy and detail, and the boldness of 5 faces, 5 voices, and 5 spaces.

Petra Strahovnik (1986, SI), has been following her path of discovering new sounds and she has never been barred by the traditional way of how we think about sound and music. She is working on research in art, discovering “mechanical - electronic” sounds, using rare earth magnets and mechanical sound speakers.

Trumpet: Justin Christensen

AMAZED by Time is part of 'Through the Looking Glass', a set of 5 installations for solo/duo performers that combine music and performance art to raise questions on how we deal with mental health. This series was developed in partnership with ensemble Modelo62, who Petra has worked closely with for many years.

AMAZED by TIME deals with autism spectrum disOrder: The inability to interact with the world ‘normally’ develops in an autistic individual's a passionate, deeply creative, and detail-oriented way of trying to keep up with the world. The details seem to hold a key to figuring out this loud, relentlessly unpredictable world full of obsessively social people. The performer dives deep into the beauty of the details from his surroundings. Unfortunately, sometimes he is thrown out from this inner world because he is unable to find the deeper meaning that he is desperately searching for.

Videographer: Gregor Gobec. The footage is taken from the presentations in June 2019 at five art spaces in The Hague: Trixie, Galerie Helder, Parts Project, The Grey Space in the Middle, and Haagse Kunstkring. Supported by Fond Podiumkunst.
