Jan van Eerd studied vibraphone and drums at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He has toured and made records with Spinvis, Wende, Ellen ten Damme, Sandra van Nieuwland, Hadewych Minis and Hans Dagelet among others. He won an Edison in 2019 for the production of Wende's album; Mens. Together with Wende he also created and performed the performance of Mens.
He is the regular producer for the French/Dutch recordlabel; Records Gramophonique. He has also made music for the performance People, Places & Things by Oostpool, December Days for Via Rudolphi, Dangerous Liaisons under the direction of Nina Spijkers for Bos Theater and for EGO; a kinetic sculpture embodying the perspectives of a human by Studiodrift.
After having played for many years with many different artists in almost all theaters, festivals and club stages in the Netherlands and Belgium, Jan felt the need to stand on his own and so YAN was born.
