Victoria Mescalito (RU)

Victoria (aka DJ Mescalito / Soma Project, Goa / RU) was born in Russia roughly the same time as Techno cropped up in Chicago. From early years music became a life soundtrack, but she never came across the opportunity to become a part of a male-orientated club DJing. In 2007 Victoria graduated from Moscow Eastern University with a diploma of an Economist specialized in Australia and Oceania region. A year later having revised her outlook on life she moved from Russia to Goa where she joined beach club Shanti Goa for work in a creative team. After few years of residency at the place she released a debut compilation Sonrisa on Shanti Records [Moscow], whereupon a podcast on German record label Kaato Music and an inspired compilation for the Berlin based Lucidflow imprint. Victoria is a regular participant of all major underground happenings in India and beyond. Soma Project, Katzensuppe, Sunburn [Goa, IN], Sula Fest [Nashik, IN]. Summer time is mostly spent in Europe and Russia and she has already played her sets at the venues like Supperclub [Amsterdam, NL], CLICK at Woodstock 69 [Bloemendaal, NL], Katerholzig and Sisyphos [Berlin, DE], Shanti [Moscow, RU], Chapeau Rouge [Prague, CZ] and many other places. The DJ name Mescalito clearly depicts her trippy style of playing deep, tech and minimal house with an eclectic touch influenced from the past musical background. It’s more about Indie dance and Electronica arrangements around the hypnotic bass lines and grooves, cruising you throughout the journey of different sound layers. At the moment Victoria is working on her own production and getting ready for season in Goa 2014–2015 which is her main work for Soma Project.
