Rosanne Philippens (NL)

Artist
Rosanne Philippens is considered one of the greatest violinists in the Netherlands. Her open and communicative style of performance won her first prizes at competitions including the Dutch National Violin Competition (Amsterdam Concertgebouw 2009) and the Freiburg International Violin Competition (2014). Rosanne has appeared as a soloist under Yannick Nézét-Sequin, Xian Zhang and Stefan Asbury, with orchestras including the Philharmonisches Orchester Freiburg, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Strings and the NJO, and she performs regularly at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Doelen Rotterdam and other prestigious venues. In her determination to stretch her musical boundaries, besides the large classical repertoire she has built up over the years she also explores gypsy, electro and other musical worlds. Rosanne is also an active chamber musician. Recent invitations include appearances at festivals in Germany, France, England and Israel. Rosanne commenced the violin at the age of three. She studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Haag, and at the Hanns Eisler Akademie in Berlin, graduating at both with distinction. Rosanne plays on the gorgeous “Barrere" Stradivarius, on loan from the Stichting Elise Mathilde Fonds. This violin was played by Janine Jansen for the last 15 years.
