Nienke Beintema (NL)

Nienke Beintema (1977) is a freelance science writer, among others for NRC Handelsblad. She is also a biologist and polar enthusiast – she just returned from the Dutch scientific expedition to Spitsbergen. Nienke recently interviewed Luc Jacquet, filmmaker of March of the Penguins and Ice and the Sky. Her own book De poolgebieden (‘The polar regions’) appeared this spring – with 70 short chapters about polar wildlife, geography and climate, culture and heroic explorers.
