Marcel Alexander Wiebenga (NL)
Marcel A. Wiebenga (Rotterdam, 1978) first earned recognition as the drummer for Dutch and American bands Oil and Das Oath, recording several releases and touring Europe, the United States, and Japan in the mid-1990s – 2000s.
From 2008 to 2018 he served as Partner & Strategy Director at Sizzer Amsterdam, helping expand the studio into an award-winning international music-for-advertising agency with hubs in Amsterdam and Berlin. He supervised more than 1 000 commercials for brands such as Mercedes, Dior, Diesel, and Heineken and regularly spoke or juried at industry conferences.
In 2021 Wiebenga and longtime collaborator Nicholas van den Doel founded Ringo, a B2B platform that delivers on-demand sync-licensing price benchmarks through its proprietary Expected Sync Value (xSV™) engine—the first AI-driven sync-pricing algorithm now used by major advertising agencies, global rights-holders, and specialist law firms.
The company raised a €383 k pre-seed round in 2023 and launched its public beta in February 2025, with early adopters including BBDO and Wieden + Kennedy.
Beyond Ringo, Wiebenga publishes the “Bi-Weekly-ish” newsletter on music, tech, and culture, reaching more than 4 000 creatives and founders worldwide.
