Heleen Blanken & Daniel de Bruin (NL)

Artist

Update Thursday October 23: Unfortunately, due to the weather forecast predicting strong wind gusts, we have to dismantle Heleen Blanken & Daniel de Bruin's art piece earlier than planned for safety reasons. We are very sorry for Heleen and Daniel and for all the visitors who were looking forward to seeing their work, but safety must come first. We hope to welcome them back next year.

Heleen Blanken and Daniel de Bruin are two Dutch artists working at the intersection of art, technology, and nature. From their studios in Amsterdam and Soesterberg, they each develop a distinctive practice exploring the relationship between humans, nature, and machines.

While Blanken works through installation, new media, scenography and sculpture to explore the layered nature of natural processes and perception, De Bruin creates mechanical installations and machine-like objects that reimagine the interaction between humans and technology.

Both approach their work with an experimental and interdisciplinary mindset, where intuition and technique merge. Their work has been presented in museums and festivals worldwide and is distinguished by an imaginative vision of a hybrid future, one in which the organic and the artificial, the analogue and the digital, the human and the mechanical are in constant dialogue.
