Gratts (BE)
Artist
Belgian dj Gratts and his bag of records, sometimes two, have been touring for almost fifteen years now. In those bags: music for big systems in small basements. Gratts got into underground dance music in the late nineties and is the founder of the Brussels based ensemble label, club nights and podcast series, all dedicated to deep, timeless house music. Past ensemble guests include Gerd (Clone), Xosar, moomin, Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium, Young Marco, Oracy (Mojuba) and many more. ensemble also released its first vinyl EP by Xosar in November 2013, including a Xan Xoda (aka WPH's San Soda) remix. ensemble002 featuring other friends of the family is following soon.
Gratts has been carrying his records to happy club and festival crowds across Belgium, Holland, UK and Germany week after week, taking pride in being one of Belgium’s best kept secrets. In 2012, he was nominated as "Best Belgian DJ" in the Belgian Red Bull Elektropedia Awards. Together with ensemble partner Kong, he curates the house section for the 22tracks website in Brussels. Being a member of the small but dedicated We Play House family also led to Gratts teaming up with San Soda to form the infamous Het Collect-Ief Deruyter.
In the last few years, he made appearances in some of Europe’s finest spots including Tief (London), Trouw (Amsterdam), About Blank (Berlin), Studio 80 (Amsterdam), Planet Rose (Nijmegen), Fuse (Brussels) among many other places. In spring 2013 he travelled through Asia, Indonesia and Australia to dig for vinyl records, sharing his finds with local club crowds in Jakarta, Hong Kong, Bali, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland (NZ).
