As Creative Director at Shapiro Bernstein Music Publishing, I use my experience and numerous relationships in the music and media industries to discover and develop new, emerging songwriters, acquire existing catalogs of music and promote these songs and songwriters to maximize revenue and increase exposure. When I arrived at Shapiro Bernstein in 2002, I was an executive assistant. Throughout the last 13+ years, I created my current creative executive role, where I have become integral in the rejuvenation of this classic company to a sought after home for not just standards, but some of the world’s best, current, songs, songwriters and artists from a wide range of genres. Some clients include: David Guetta, AIR, Joywave and Savoir Adore as well as legendary songwriters Dorothy Fields, Laurindo Almeida and John Lodge. Recent placement highlights include spots for: Google, Gap, Tide and Target, “Better Call Saul,” “Criminal Minds,” “Transparent,” “Focus,” “Earth To Echo,” FIFA 16, Madden 16 and PES 16 amongst many more. During my tenure at Shapiro Bernstein, I have been asked to music supervise high profile projects including marketing ads and commercials for Apple and Puma, “Still Bill” (a documentary about Bill Withers) and the The Museum of Jewish Heritage and Tolerance Center in Moscow, Russia. I have produced new master recordings with a focus on licensing them to TV, Film and Advertising. From 1996 - 2002 I was the drummer of respected jazz/funk/fusion band,ulu. I toured extensively all over the US, playing highly regarded venues and sold-out festivals. I have shared the stage with well known artists De La Soul, John Scofield and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. I have been a featured guest speaker/panelist at SXSW, CMJ, ASCAP, BMI, AIMP, BMI, Syracuse University, Albright College and others.
