Artist

Crystal Clear is the drum & bass alias of Andy Haeffele. Rising to prominence as part of DJ Hype's Playaz camp in the early 2000s, Andy released a string of dancefloor bangers and toured globally as a DJ.

His track ‘Itzalot’ featuring Stapleton gained mainstream traction through Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, sparking the idea for a rap-vocal-led drum & bass project. He followed this up with ‘Levels’, which became Mistajam’s Jam Hot Record and led to the Universal-signed pop/dnb project Major Look.

After Major Look ran its course, Andy explored broader musical horizons, producing cross-genre dance music. Most recently, he’s been creating cutting-edge techno under the alias Melody’s Enemy, releasing on many of the genre’s prominent labels.

In 2022, Crystal Clear returned to drum & bass with ‘Divide & Conquer’, his first release in a decade, featured on Sofa King Sick IV via the respected Sofa Sound Bristol. This was followed by the Full Circle EP, which included ‘Puppet Man’—a collaboration with long-time friend Codebreaker. The track was picked up by Mary Anne Hobbs as her "Near Future" selection on BBC 6Music. The pair also released a companion mix, the Sofa Sound Mixing Bowl, earning praise across the drum & bass scene.

So far, 2024 has marked a major comeback for Crystal Clear. He’s released EPs on Sauce Recordings, Love For Low Frequencies, and ThirtyOne Recordings—all receiving strong support from leading names in the genre. His Madhouse EP even topped the drum & bass releases chart, cementing his return to the forefront of the scene.
