CoCoA (NL)

CoCoA is a composers collective based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It is a group of professional composers and other professionals working together on new pieces and projects. Each project stands alone thereby there is no standard work flow. The group strives to enter into interdisciplinary collaborations. Ultimately the goal is to bring classical and contemporary music out of its comfort zone and juice it up with the new. The 'Orter Aerial' project is to co-compose new danceable music to be played by acoustic instruments playing simultaneously with a DJ. Their goal is to create music that is reachable to a vast audience, and not only to educated musicians or people from a certain social class. They would like to approach young and old and invite them for a night where not only they would listen to new music, but also be able to dance to it and experience visual elements. They will be playing pop venues and festivals with this project rather then concert halls. Ultimately the goal is to bring classical and contemporary music out of its comfort zone and juice it up with the new.
