Christine Kakaire (she/her) is an award-winning culture journalist, critic, teacher and editor based in Berlin, Germany. Christine currently writes a bi-monthly column for Berlin nightclub Berghain, and lectures in popular music culture and cultural theory at BIMM Institute.


Christine has worked in music and culture her entire life. It has taken her from independent music PR in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, to vinyl record stores and digital music platforms in London, UK, and to content curation, project development and journalism in Berlin.


Christine’s bylines have appeared across print, online and street press, including work published by Ableton, Boiler Room, Crack, Groove, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor and The Face.


As a seasoned host, interviewer and moderator, Christine has engaged in conversation on film, in podcasts and at live events, in collaboration with Audio Technica, AVA Festival, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Insomnia Festival, Le Guess Who? Festival, Nuits Sonores Festical, Patreon, Red Bull Music Academy, Red Bull Radio, Sónar, Sonos and Soundcloud, Terraforma Festival.


Christine leads the Black Creative Database, an initiative of the community platform Black Artist Database, and she is a member of the editorial team at CTM - Festival for Adventurous Music in Berlin. In 2019 Christine sat on the Creative Board of Berlin Night Embassy, and in 2022 she joined the Board of Trustees for Tag Der Clubkultur, an initiative of Clubcommission Berlin, Senate Department for Culture & Europe and the Musicboard.


In 2022 Christine was awarded the Preis Für Musikjournalismus (Music Journalism Award) by Berlin Music Commission’s Listen To Berlin Awards, and in 2021 she was named an Honoree of SheSaid.So’s Alternative Power List.
