Cezaire (FR)

Once having discovered the playgrounds, Cezaire, former basketball player, soaked-up Hip-Hop and Funk cultures. This musical education enabled him later to meet the club culture, in particular through his bloggers collective named “Boule à Facette”. So it was when he arrived in Parisian capital, in 2008 that was born his passion for electronic music. He then decided to create Roche Musique with - as a first idea - to be part of the French Touch movement. Founder and artistic director of the label, Cezaire has re- vealed major artists such as FKJ, Darius, Kartell, Zimmer and Dabeull, with whom he travels the world. Also a producer, his heavy and powerful basses, his 90’s synthesizers, his pitcheds vocals and his samples on the borders of Funk, House and Hip- Hop are just like the label : current and solar. The artist, with his intrinsic groove, cites as major inspirations J Dilla, Dr Dre, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, Moodymann, Kaytranada and Anderson Paak. This mixture of influences gives him a palpable singularity in his productions unveiling a certain taste for retro. After his first hypnotic EP - Seize the Day, released in 2016 - which is a true ode to the passing of time, Cezaire returns with a second Rn’B project with an obvious sensuality : Attraction. Indeed, the universal theme of desire is one of its main subjects, but its first reading concerns above all an ambition, that of making your dreams come true. The artist, equipped with his recently acquired musical skills, presents this year his francophone neo-soul, a new step on the path to his artistic maturity.
