Alex π (NL)

Artist & Speaker (One Love Records)

For Alex Pi, also known as Rulex, everything begins in the studio. Musically notorious for his intensity—both when producing and behind the decks—his passion and talent are undeniable. With a career marked by collaborations with artists such as Gene Farris, DJ Pierre, and Paul Johnson, Alex Pi has established himself as a sharp-eared tastemaker and an influential force in the underground music scene.

Together with his longtime friend Paul Johnson, the legendary Chicago-born DJ and producer best known for “Get Get Down”, Alex co-founded One Love Records after more than 20 years of friendship. While Paul’s legacy remains at the heart of the label, it is Alex Pi who now carries forward the vision: to bring people together globally by offering a platform for forward-thinking artists who remain true to their underground roots.

Driven by a deep respect for Johnson’s influence and a divine dedication to keeping his spirit alive, Alex ensures that One Love Records continues to thrive. His sharp insight into the industry and relentless creative energy make him the driving force behind the label’s growth. Founded in friendship and fueled by passion, One Love Records exists to showcase music to the world—because for Alex Pi, “it doesn’t stop.”

Alex Pi is a Dutch-Tunisian DJ and producer with an impressive track record in the international electronic music scene. His musical journey began at the age of fourteen as a glass collector at Podium Gallery X in Vlaardingen, later working at Nighttown in Rotterdam, where his passion for techno and house music truly took off. With roots in Hammam-Lif, Tunisia, and a home base in the Netherlands, he brings a unique cultural blend to his music.

In 2003, Alex Pi founded his own label, 2Recordz. In 2006, he became label partner of Gene Farris at the influential Farris Wheel Recordings in Chicago. He also serves as label manager of Afro Acid, the iconic imprint founded by acid house pioneer DJ Pierre.

Together with the legendary Paul Johnson, Alex co-founded One Love Records, a label born from over twenty years of friendship and a shared love for music. After Johnson’s passing in 2021, his musical legacy remains a driving force and foundational pillar of the label, which is dedicated to connecting people worldwide through underground house music.

Alex Pi has performed in more than fifteen U.S. states, including major cities like Chicago, New York City, and Miami, as well as throughout the Midwest, with shows in places such as Indianapolis and Bloomington, Indiana. His international experience and high-energy sets make him a sought-after artist at festivals and club nights around the world.

He forms one half of the DJ and producer duo Rulex, alongside Rudichi (aka Chester Code). Together, they create genre-blending tracks and remixes that resonate throughout the global underground scene. Their collaborative work includes:

• Da Jungle – Louie Vega vs. DJ Pierre (Dirty Jungle Mix, Afro Acid)
• Stress Or Justice – DJ Pierre rework of Justice (2Recordz Mix, Afro Acid)
• Fette Sjit – MC Pryme (ADE 2008, Future Street Music)
• Too Far Gone – Danny Howells (Afro Acid)

As Rulex, the duo also released the following EPs:
• What The Funk EP – Rulex (Farris Wheel Recordings)
• Minibox EP – Rulex (Farris Wheel Recordings)
• Back and Fourth – Gene Farris ft. JDub (Farris Wheel Recordings)

In addition to his work as a producer and performer, Alex Pi is the founder of ACID JACK, a recurring event held every two months at Toffler in Rotterdam, as well as an annual showcase during Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). ACID JACK serves as a meeting point where emerging talent and established professionals come together to network, collaborate, and celebrate underground culture.

With a sharp ear for quality, intense focus in the studio, and electrifying performances behind the decks, Alex Pi remains a powerful force in international techno and house music. His work as a label manager, event curator, producer, and performer reflects a deep commitment to musical innovation and cultural connection.
