Hothead presents: Music of the new world with Lauren Duffus & Shauwdii at EYE
Amsterdam collective Hothead presents new film works by London-based vocalist and composer Lauren Duffus and audio visual artist Shauwdii, asking how film can carry memory, history and emotion when sound takes the lead.
This event is part of Hothead’s program Music Of The New World, a four-day ADE Arts & Culture program that explores how sound can shape, influence and challenge other art forms. The evening centres on new work Lauren Duffus and Shauwdii, where music acts as score and context to their films.
EYE reserved a limited number of free tickets for ADE Pro and ADE Lab visitors. Please claim your ticket at the service desk at least 30 minutes before the start of the program.
Lauren Duffus (live)
Lauren Duffus is a London-based producer, vocalist and composer. Her cinematic, sample-based work on SoundCloud led to releases on Body Motion, AD93 and AMF Records. The 2022 single 'Habits' was featured in a British Vogue / Royal Opera House dance performance, and she has since performed at Fabric, Village Underground and MUTEK Argentina. Her latest EP Can’s Gone Warm, led by single N.U.M.T.E., explores themes of longing and nostalgia through a fractured club aesthetic.
At Eye she presents new film work she has created, directly connected to her musical practice. The film takes the central role, with her live performance functioning as a score that guides and reinforces it.
Shauwdii
Shauwdii is an audio visual artist & DJ from Hackney, London. She works with Destruction, attempting to feel what sounds are left once we disappear. She seeks to unearth the emptiness beneath emotion, confronting a confidence within the grotesque through heavy dub electronic soundscapes, industrial ambience and cyclical trap remixes in her live performances. Her work aims to make sense out of disaster with noise and memory. These ideas are also embedded in her film works, directing music videos for some of London’s most notable musical innovators including Taz & Meeks, Mark William Lewis, Zerosome and Jawnino.
At Eye she presents a new short film, a continuation of her earlier project thatonephonecall

Eye is sometimes called ‘the cinematic memory of the Netherlands’. And in all modesty, that title is no exaggeration.
On the North bank of the river IJ, you can find the film museum Eye. You can go to the movies and much more. Visit exhibitions about filmmakers and light and video artists, browse through the huge film collection and do a film quiz or pop down in the restaurant with breathtaking views over the IJ.

Yes, the Pro Pass grants you access to all ADE official festival events. Even if a festival event is sold out, you can still access the event with your ADE Pro Pass wristband. During ADE there are over 500 festival events and hundreds more cultural and conference events you can enter with the wristband. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a limited capacity that each venue can take into account for ADE Pro wristband holders. This means that, for some of the more crowded events, you have to arrive early to ensure attendance. Once capacity is reached, ADE Pro holders will be let into the event on a one in-one-out basis.
