Get into Kuduro with Pongo
Speaker: Pongo (Artist)
Moderator: Kay Slice (Artist / Moderator)
Level: Foundation
We are honoured to welcome the Queen of Kuduro herself to ADE Lab: Pongo. Known for her high-energy, body-moving music and fast rhythms, the Angolan-born, Portugal-based artist has a musical story of her own. Inspired by the sounds she grew up with, from Caribbean Zouk to Brazilian beats, she first fell in love with Kuduro as a dancer before picking up the mic and producing her own music.
Together with her percussionist, Pongo will show how she has transformed traditional Kuduro rhythms into the progressive Kuduro sound she has pioneered over the last few years. Her music has taken her to stages like Down The Rabbit Hole, Dour and this ADE to Paradiso. This session is a rare chance to get an inside look at her creative process and see how she uses her voice to turn rhythms and melodies into tracks, live on stage.
