ADE Arts & Culture unveils first events for 2025 program

Sonic memory
Tomorrow Comes The Harvest @ Paradiso
The symbiotic musical collaboration Tomorrow Comes The Harvest was initiated by Nigerian drummer Tony Allen (one of the pioneers of the Afrobeat genre) and Detroit techno veteran Jeff Mills. Together with keyboardist Jean-Phi Dary, the trio found common ground in a tradition of using music as a pathway to higher states of consciousness, touring internationally until Tony Allen passed away in 2020. With the addition of tabla virtuoso Prabhu Edouard, the project has now entered a new chapter. During a Tomorrow Comes The Harvest performance, improvisation is used to explore the unknown, cross sonic boundaries, and transcend rhythms. This event takes place on ADE Friday.
AJJIT by Khadija El Kharraz Alami and Reda Senhaji (Cheb Runner) @ Bar Benelux
In AJJIT, performance artist Khadija El Kharraz Alami and producer Reda Senhaji (Cheb Runner)shine light on the importance of coming together, commemoration, moving, music and the power of expressing emotions and sharing them. Showing and celebrating the beauty of carrying a complex identity in many dimensions and inviting it to be, is an attempt and a desire to make complexity tangible. The performance on ADE Wednesday and Thursday is an invitation to collectively re-animate our pre-capitalist bodies and reflect on and honor lives lost.
What can the function of the performing arts be in today's collapse of democracy, empires, capitalism beyond the reflection of the times we live in? Can the act and notion of togetherness, during the performance, build, contribute to actively speculate and remake the human body, body as a mass, in our collapsing societies?

Reframing dance and identity
Universal Tongue by Anouk Kruithof @ De Nederlandsche Bank
DNB presents: Universal Tongue by Anouk Kruithof at De Nieuwe Schatkamer. This exhibition runs from ADE Wednesday to Friday (and on Monday after ADE) and is free of charge to visit. Kruithof explores the evolution of dance across decades and continents, revealing how global media and online platforms have turned movement into a universal form of expression.
On ADE Thursday afternoon, De Nieuwe Schatkamer hosts a public dialogue that dives deeper into the themes of Universal Tongue, looking at how dance transcends borders and reflects our shared humanity. As night falls, the conversation continues with a documentary screening as part of the Fraud Film Festival. For those attending, Kruithof’s installation will remain open into the evening at De Stadstuin.
Spatial Odysseys: Mutual Bloom Edition @ Club RAUM
Curated in dialogue with artist-in-residence Catalina Reyes Navarro, this one-night exhibition on ADE Thursday reimagines the nightclub as an ecological system. This edition of Spatial Odysseys invites contributions from RAUM's extended circle, regulars, friends, and collaborators, to engage with Catalina’s research into the nightclub as a space of transformation, decay, and regeneration, where club culture merges with ecological imagination.
The selected works respond to themes such symbiotic thinking, mutual entanglement, and more-than-human worlds, ranging from the intelligence of fungi to geological rhythms and elemental forces. Sculptural, abstract, or atmospheric, the works inhabit specific zones within the club’s architecture, becoming part of its living anatomy.
Bodil Ouédraogo - Concentrated Motion @ Melkweg Expo
Bodil Ouédraogo’s Concentrated Motion invites visitors into a layered world of image, sculpture, textile and sound. The show is structured around three chapters: Porte la Richesse, To Blend, Together and Framed Intimacy. The exhibition explores identity and self-presentation as something in flux.
Rather than telling a fixed story, the show unfolds as a continuous motion between image and sound, stillness and action, inner world and public space. During ADE, Melkweg Expo hosts daily DJ sets, responding to the work live. Line-up announcements will follow via the Melkweg channels.
