Mouracade's roots reach as far back as the Southern California punk scene that gave rise to an equally rich underground club world in the 90s. He studied jazz improvisation and music theory in college, in the process he found a new adoration for early electronic music and the New York disco sound. As a record selector, he's shared space with talent reaching as far back as his days holding a residency with his eclectic opening & closing sets for the World Famous Beat Junkies. In more recent years, Mouracade has traversed the techno, house, disco and left-field landscapes with the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, DJ Harvey and Derrick May. In 2012, Split Secs landed on various charts and track listings when the duo’s first EP “I’m Not Losin’” (Jolly Jams) earned heavy rotation worldwide. The warm and relatable analog feel carried over to Mouracade's solo effort, SONNS with his debut track, 'On My Mind' moving feet and played globally by heavyweights such as Kenny Dope, Tony Humphries, Ivan Smagghe, Optimo DJs, Soul Clap and many more. As Mouracade's reputation continues to earn attention, label owners like James Friedman of Throne of Blood have tapped him for incendiary, genre-bending remix work for Waze and Odyssey. In addition to owning and operating the Machine Limited label with Kirschbaum, Mouracade is not only staking claim for himself as one to watch but giving Los Angeles the attention it deserves as a bastion for dance music.
