Olivia Dawn (HK)

Artist
Hailed as one of top rising talents to watch out for in Asia, Olivia Dawn is notorious for delivering violin solos and smoky vocals over her fresh and dynamic house/techno sets. Raised in her hometown Hong Kong and educated in NYC and Valencia (ES), she has written, recorded and produced with artists from both different genres, while her own productions fuse the driving power of melodic techno with the analog warmth of house and disco. She is also a part of the duo Until Dawn which was featured at Tomorrowland (2017/18) and Cafe D’Anvers in Belgium. Formerly the Music Curator of W Hong Kong, Olivia began touring around Asia and Europe soon after. She has headlined at the Grand Opening night of Cafe Del Mar in Phuket and played at Escape Bangkok, W Bangkok, W Suzhou, and W Bali where she opened for Belgian producer Aeroplane. She will make her solo festival debut at Babylon Festival in Australia on Feb 14 alongside the likes of Amelie Lens, Nina Kraviz, Damian Lazarus, Eagles & Butterflies and Behrouz. A Juilliard bachelor and Berklee double-master graduate in classical violin, contemporary performance and music technology respectively, Olivia found a way to merge her rigorous classical training with her love for electronic music in a way that allows her to take her performance far beyond a normal DJ set. She came upon DJing accidentally, having started first on Ableton, but since her departure from Spain, she has warmed up for top techno/house DJs such as Yokoo, Rampue, Jeremy Olander, Agents of Time, Aeroplane, Jasper James & Dave Seaman, as well as international superstars Royksopp, Paul Oakenfold, Jonas Blue and Bebe Rexha. Olivia has also collaborated with brands including Nike, W, Armani, Max Mara, Roger Vivier, Porsche, Tudor, Shanghai Tang and was featured at a Virgin Australia event hosted by Sir Richard Branson. Olivia’s mastery of styles on the violin ranges from classical, jazz and rock to arabic and techno. Highly demanded as a session player in the studio, She has recorded vocals for TIME (Sapiens/FR) and strings for Mako, Eagles & Butterflies, Casey Driessen (Bela Fleck & the Flecktones), Burning Man regulars Zebbler Encanti Experience and Latin Grammy award-winning producer Javier Limón. An avid synth lover, Olivia processes her own recordings at home with Roland, Moog and Dave Smith Instruments analog gear. Mentored by Spanish house legend Nacho Marco, she is currently working on her debut EP as well as a track with DJ Fudge. She will also record an EP with TIME following the release of their summer hit “BIRD” (Kitsune Records), the remix (by Kiko Franco) of which reached Top 50 viral on Spotify Brazil. Passionate in the studio and no stranger to the spotlight, Olivia commands the stage (or rather, decks) with charisma and charm. Aside from performing and recording, she actively gives TEDx talks and performance lectures at Berklee College of Music and serves as a Global Shaper for the World Economic Forum. Recently she hosted a bilingual live webcast following the International Music Competition Harbin on behalf of Medici TV, the largest classical music channel in the world. With a warm, infectious energy, Olivia has the ability to captivate her audience, no matter how small or big. She is a Nike Energy Influencer and plays on an NS Design electric violin, generously sponsored by Tom Lee Hong Kong. Olivia is now based between Hong Kong and London.
