Morgan Hammer (FR)

Artist
As far as this young French female DJ & producer is concerned, her aim is to create music which blends her love of a good beat with her many influences from electro, techno, acid house and post-punk. At twenty-five, she is a newcomer, but has attracted a lot of attention in a very short space of time. First noticed thanks to her EP Libillule on Clouded Vision, she came under the spotlight of Headman, who offered to release some tracks on his electro-disco-punk key label Relish. Starting with her track Sink Or Swim, an intense personality unveils itself. The punk-funk pulse gives a twist to her techno and with catchy gimmicks the acid spin is never far. Morgan has already shown a lot of maturity thanks to her IDM influences: “I started to mix around 2007 when I discovered Michael Mayer, Justus Kohncke, Wolfgang Voigt. Kompakt artists in general were a revelation to me, and following that, I became influenced by Daniel Avery, Ivan Smagghe, Andrew Weatherall and Chloé, …” These artists mostly distinguished themselves by revealing a strong character and independence within the music industry – features they surprisingly share with the frail Morgan. For beneath her fairy-like appearance, the French girl reaches, without meeting any opposition, the perfect synthesis between well-structured European techno and the instinctive freshness of various American electronic music movements. Following her appearance in the public eye, she soon shared tracks and remixes with Mexican-born producers Zombies In Miami (Kompakt) and Lokier – a fresh new artist with whom she is working on a transatlantic project. Each of her collaborations opens new doors, with TheFKClub (an other promising signature on Relish) or La Royale (Electrique music) and new horizons and new desires. “ I am currently working on slower and dirtier tracks, with a little 80’s sound, my voice and real rhythmic instruments, retaining disco and acidish elements…” Such sounds run right through her sets. “During my sets, I like to go through a lot of styles: post-punk, new and minimal wave, 80’s tunes, nu-disco, electro, indie or pop music.”. Recently, her track Levitacion featuring Zombies in Miami appeared on playlists from the likes of Ivan Smagghe, Tim Paris, Daniel Avery, Remain and Pilooski. Look out for new releases on Relish in 2014, plus many more surprises. - See more at: http://www.spunoutagency.com/artists/morgan-hammer#sthash.kO60GpIL.dpuf
