Mark Robinson (GB)
For the past 27 years Mark Robinson has been fortunate enough to be able to live out his dreams of being an international headline DJ, Record Label Boss, A&R, Music Producer, Event Manager, and now at the helm of Asylum Talent he is enjoying helping other talented artists achieve their dreams & goals.
As a teenager Mark was fascinated by his local record store, every time he walked past he would be enticed in by the music and would spend all the time he could there pestering the staff to play him the latest releases.
Initially he’d save his school dinner money up to buy vinyl and as his passion for music developed so did his industrious nature – soon he had 3 paper rounds in the morning, an afternoon job cleaning a butcher shop and on weekends would wash cars – with all his earnings used to buy new music.
After finishing school at 16 he was offered a permanent position in the shop heading up the Drum & Bass section. This was also where he began to perfect his mixing skills.
As his musical knowledge increased so did his musical taste and he quickly developed a love for House Music with artists such as Todd Terry, Roger Sanchez & Masters at Work becoming huge influences.
Whilst working in the record shop Mark met the managers of pioneering London Pirate Radio station GIRLS FM and was given a weekly prime time Saturday night show. Here he quickly developed a sizable & loyal following that would always support him at gigs.
Starting out on the road at the tender age of 16 he had to use a fake ID to get into some of the clubs he was performing at but nonetheless quickly established himself as one of London’s most exciting prospects. Playing regular sets in the premier Clubs of the capital such as Ministry of Sound, The Cross, Turnmills, Club UK, EC1, Bagleys and more it wasn’t long before Mark started to get international gig offers.
From the minute he turned 18 Mark started flying out to exciting holiday destinations to perform his signature 3 turntable sets: Ibiza, Tenerife, Ayia Napa & Corfu just a few examples.
At 20 he met legendary fashion entrepreneur Gifi Fields and was asked to perform at Catwalk shows in London, Paris, Barcelona & more.

After 3 great years running the station Mark was honored to be asked to join Mousse T & Simon Marlin (Shapeshifters) at legendary German label Peppermint Jam to head up and develop their group of distributed labels.
Mark’s first signing to the label group was none other than Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records and he played a key role in their initial success.
