Jon Manley (GB)

Artist
Jon Manley began DJing in the early 90′s, having been drawn in to the world of House Music courtesy of the Essential Selection/Mix and Sasha’s famous G-Spot and Universe mix tapes. Moving to Exeter in 1996 was the catalyst to get out of the bedroom and integrate within the city’s club scene. Reform Records and Iain ‘Lazy’ Smith & Bazil’s club nights around the city and in Bristol, such as Fruity Antics, provided direct inspiration for Jon’s direction down the Soulful/Deep House and Garage route. Jon and friends set up, promoted and DJ’d at their own events; Pulse and RAW, picking up on the burgeoning UK Garage sound in 1997, bringing it from London to the South West. Alongside this guest slots at the University’s World Aids Day event ‘The Safer Sex Ball’ or the RAG boat parties took place. Following this Jon became involved with the club scene in the wider South West, holding weekly residencies with his DJing partner and friend, Luke Crisell, at PoNaNa and Spirit in Salisbury, plus guest sets around Southampton and Cheltenham. More recently Jon has played at the superb All Luv’Dup nights and Batavia Records parties at ADE. He also is co-owner and A&R for the well established Different Attitudes record label. Jon hosts his weekly show hOUSEwORX every Friday 8-10PM(UK) on D3EP Radio Network, showcasing upfront House & Garage alongside classics tracks from the archives.
