John is the Head of Public Affairs for PRS for Music, the UK’s largest collecting society. He represents over 117,000 songwriter, composer and publisher members across a wide variety of policy issues, including copyright, broadcasting and the future growth of the creative industries. He is a Director of the British Copyright Council and sits on the Board of a number of music bodies. John was previously Head of International Broadcasting and Radio at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) leading the Government’s media policies both in the UK and in Europe. He played a fundamental role in the development and implementation of economic policies, through the Digital Britain Review and Digital Economy Act 2010, to support the UK communications and content industries. In 2013 he was awarded the Arqiva Chairman’s Award for services to the UK’s radio industry.
