DJ Rayhane (TN)
I was 12 years old. In my room, there wasn’t much: an old mixing console, a double cassette deck, and me… completely hypnotized by music. That was my universe, my playground. On summer afternoons, while my friends were outside playing, I stayed inside with my headphones on, chaining tracks together as if I were performing in front of an invisible crowd. I could already feel that something important was happening.
Years went by. At 18, I made a decision: this would no longer be just a hobby. I dove headfirst into DJ’ing. I spent sleepless nights practicing, days traveling to see the biggest DJs perform, attending concerts, studying every transition, every drop. I spent hours digging for sounds, hunting for rare gems no one else had heard yet. Music was no longer a passion – it had become an obsession. Everything revolved around it: my thoughts, my projects, my life.
In 1997, I stepped into the nightlife scene. The first offers to play started coming in… but I didn’t want to rush. I preferred to perfect my style in some of the most prestigious clubs in Tunis. That’s where I learned how to read a crowd, when to raise the energy and when to slow it down.
Then came The Calypso. Just hearing its name gave me chills. It was the legendary club, the one everyone in Tunis dreamed of dancing in. But my dream was to be behind the decks, making that dance floor come alive. And in the summer of 2001, that dream came true: I became the resident DJ. I still remember my very first night… the lights, the crowd, every eye turned toward me. That night, I knew I was exactly where I belonged.
In 2003, another incredible chapter began: Radio Mosaïque FM. It was a world of its own – the perfect blend of pleasure and professionalism. I became resident DJ and music advisor, surrounded by a dynamic team. Radio gave me the chance to reach thousands of listeners, even those who had never set foot in a club.
Over the years, I shaped my own style – a mix of raw energy and smooth transitions – becoming one of the key figures on the Tunisian electronic music scene. I’ve had the chance to share the stage with international DJs and to travel, making crowds dance both in Tunisia and abroad.
Today, I’m a true lover of techno, but I keep a special place in my heart for retro. I love digging up those old tracks, the original breaks that take me back to my beginnings – a musical time capsule.
I am DJ Rayhane. From that very first day with a mixing console and a double cassette deck, my life has never stopped beating to the rhythm of the bass.
