Bernhard Hollinger (DE)
Bernhard Hollinger is a Berlin-based multi-layered artist, producer and bassist whose work spans solo and band projects, performance, theater, and interdisciplinary art.
In his audiovisual solo act “Music For Light Bulbs”, Hollinger sculpts immersive sound and light through improvisatory electronics and ambient atmospheres. His music—whether forming cloud-like collages of noises and organic textures or propelled by intuitive improvisation—evokes a synesthetic quality and transforms listening into a richly layered and immersive sensory experience. The performance promotes his upcoming release “Weichness” which centers around topics such as softness and vulnerability and is inspired by Berlin’s queer community and his trip to Taiwan and Japan earlier this year, where he performed at places like Keith Flack in Fukuoka as well as Forestlimit and Knock Koenji in Tokyo.
In April 2025, Hollinger released his debut album 1987 as a bandleader and composer on Boomslang Records— a work that showcases his bold, genre-defying approach to sound and form and was highly influenced by David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. As an active performer, he has appeared internationally at festivals, such as Waking Life, Fusion, Bezau Beatz, La Serena Jazz, Berliner Festspiele, Mahalla Berlin, Kunsthalle Bratislava as well as in numerous projects and collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Andi Haberl, Juju Ray’m, Keske Matsuno, Julius Windisch, Beatdenker, Jorhito Briseno and Moritz Stahl.
