Melkweg confirms first highlights for their ADE 2023 programme

Friday, 26 May 2023
The hype is getting real: Melkweg is among the first large venues to reveal some of their many ADE events. The music and cultural venue with multiple concert halls in the centre of Amsterdam returns to our festival with a varied lineup of ADE debuts and familiar faces. Did you know Melkweg was already participating when ADE first saw the light? The events range from drum and bass to trippy trance, thumping techno, funky house, and minimal electronic tunes, so let’s dive into the first confirmations. Time to mark your calendars!
Live concerts

He hasn't returned to ADE since 2017, but that changes this year. German composer, pianist, and producer Martin Kohlstedt brings his classical piano, melancholic ambient, and introspective soundscapes to Melkweg for a concert night on ADE Wednesday.

Also returning to ADE is Dutch soul, disco, and electronica duo Kraak & Smaak celebrates their twenty years of playing the funkiest tunes together. This concert on ADE Thursday promises to be a special one, as they bring extra musicians besides vocalists Berenice van Leer and Ivar Vermeulen and invite guests for groundbreaking guest performances. No wonder the show is called 'Live XL'!

Electro organic? That's ECHT!. The electro-jazz band from Belgium is set to bring their live show to Melkweg on ADE Friday - and if there's one thing this quartet is known for, it's their explosive performance.

Did you know the American hit producer ILLENIUM has never played in The Netherlands before? He'll make his sold-out Dutch debut in Melkweg on ADE Friday, bringing singles like 'Good Things Fall Apart' and 'Takeaway' with The Chainsmokers and Lennon Stella along. Ready to dance to his future bass music?

Club nights

Oliver Heldens returns to Melkweg on ADE Wednesday to kick off the electronic madness. The Dutch DJ curates two halls in the venue and brings many friendly faces to play the spiciest future house tunes alongside him.

Trance for days! Markus Schulz takes over the 'Upstairs' room in Melkweg with his label Coldharbour Recordings on ADE Wednesday. Expect an intimate night of the darkest, deepest, and moodiest progressive house and trance. The German-American DJ and producer returns to Melkweg on ADE Friday with his 'Markus Schulz Open To Close' event, where trance will be the theme for the entire night.

Who else to do it but Dave Clarke? His eighteenth edition of 'Dave Clarke Presents' on ADE Friday has a stacked lineup already: selectors like Afra, Dasha Rush, Oscar Mulero, and TOM And His Computer (live) will serve the most gritty, industrial, and groovy tracks together with the techno heavyweight himself.

Just like last year, Hospitality has got you covered on everything drum and bass. UK imprint Hospital Records showcases thumping beats on ADE Saturday, with a lineup that's not compromising: Metrik, Flava D, Solah, Anaïs, and many others do the tracks, you do the tricks.

Tropical house fans, this one's for you. 'Sam Feldt Presents A Heartfeldt ADE' on ADE Sunday promises to be a night full of hits, melodic beats, and good times. The lineup remains a secret for now, but fans of Sam Feldt are definitely in for a treat.
