D-wayne (NL)

Artist & Speaker
Take a X-ray of D-wayne and you will probably not see any bones or tendons but two metres zest for work, ambition and drive. As if he is carrying a jetpack on his back his career has taken off at lightning speed and there’s no stopping him. He is a star at festivals and in clubs and this did not stay unnoticed to Afrojack, Who offered him a contract. From that time D-wayne is his protégé – they perform together, they make music together, they play games together and take pleasure in pushing each other to greater musical heights. D-wayne’s records are released on Nervous, the oldest house label in the world, and on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak, Spinnin’ Records and on Wall Recordings, Afrojack’s record label. On Afrojack's first album a collaboration can be found of him with D-wayne! 2015 was the first year of the world wide exposure of D-wayne's skills and talent! And since then there have been a lot of music productions, remixes of his musical heroes and up and coming stars, projects with various artists and a slew of gigs at festivals and clubs both at home and abroad. And, of course, a world tour with Afrojack. Dwayne Megens was born in the Dutch city of Eindhoven in 1994. D-wayne started DJ’ing at school parties and from there, he progressed to playing in local clubs. Much as he loves the records of stars such as Tiësto, Laidback Luke or Axwell he wanted more. “I thought, wouldn’t it be much better to create dance floor euphoria by playing my own stuff? So I did what many producers have done and downloaded Fruity Loops. I soon got the hang of it. Motorcycle’s track, 'As The Rush Comes', was a huge inspiration, it keeps you spellbound from beginning to end. That is what I want my own productions to be – riveting and constantly surprising." He sent Afrojack one of his first tracks. “Afrojack responded after a while, saying he didn’t only like it very much but wanted to release it as well!” The list of D–wayne productions has now grown considerably and releases are done on various labels including Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, on Nervous Records, on Wall Recordings, on Wolv and on Future House Music. And on Afrojack's debut album the track 'Freedom' which is a collab with his master. Additionally, there are remixes for Tiësto, Afrojack, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Sheppard and R3hab. Besides the fact he also did a remix of a Gabriel & Dresden track, the three of them together produced the track 'Shatter'. With this things came full circle – for it was Gabriel & Dresden behind the Motorcycle pseudonym. They produced 'As the Rush Comes', the record that inspired D-wayne to start making his own music. He cares deeply about his music. “Just like a film director chooses images, each with their own meaning, I carefully select all the elements of my music. I want to tell a story. 'Africa', one of my tracks, is inspired by the people of Africa. Even when misery seems insurmountable, they draw strength from their music. I want to project that strength in my music. I want to produce that one record that will make everyone in the club or at the festival say: that was the absolute high point of the night.” D-wayne's success both as a DJ and producer will continue in 2017 and even grow bigger!
