Mirik Milan (NL)

Mirik Milan is a nightlife consultant, co-founder of VibeLab and co-author of ‘Governing the night-time city’, the first qualitative study of night mayors worldwide, published in Urban Studies in 2020. As one of the world’s first night mayors, Mirik helped professionalise the role in Amsterdam (2012–2018) and reshape the city’s nightlife into one of the most vibrant anywhere. His position has since been replicated in cities like New York, Paris and London.

His team introduced 24-hour venue permits and helped reduce crime around Rembrandtplein. In 2018 he launched VibeLab with Lutz Leichsenring. This purpose-driven consultancy has worked in more than 60 cities, developing the Creative Footprint methodology, the Nighttime Foundation and the EU-funded NightSchool. His mission remains the same: bridging the gap between government, nightlife creatives and local communities.
