Lucas (NL)

In 1993 Lucas introduced ‘Goa-trance’ to Club Mazzo on his legendary sunday night's ‘The Gathering’. The unique blend of techno and trance quickly made the Mazzo sunday's one of Amsterdams most exciting club nights of the 90’s. (voted best club night ‘95 by City Life magazine Amsterdam). Fueled by the succes of his Mazzo residency it didn’t take long before Lucas secured many invitations in clubs, party's and festivals around the globe. In 1995 a chance meeting with producers Lorenzo Zoeter and Patrice v/d Berg resulted in the band ‘Metal Spark’ (Blue Room rec.UK). Their trademark style of techno/trance laced with drum ’n bass rhythms quickly earned them international acclaim (BBC John Peel), and along with similar minded Amsterdam outfits such as Cwithe (Blue Room rec.UK) and Synkro (TIP rec.UK) this style soon became known as ‘The Amsterdam Sound’. After the sad demise of club Mazzo due to fire and police raids, Lucas remained active as a DJ, programmer and designer for Club ‘The Buddha’ in Amsterdam until 2003. Although Lucas has since switched his professional activities from DJ’ing to graphic design, he remains a fanatic consumer and collector of techno music.
