Ever since they became popular in the early 80s, music videos have been a powerful promotional tool that also gives the artist and the director the power to transmit whatever image they want. All that seemed to have been lost when MTV, at the time the most popular location for artist videos changed its programming policy. But the video is now stronger than ever thanks to a resurgence in its popularity on broadcast TV channels such as XITE, and through the internet which offers multiple channel possibilities. So who makes the videos that really sell an artist and that equally are loved by the viewers, and what do you have to do to make that happen? How do you promote those videos and what do you have to do to cut through the ubiquitous noise of our current media world? Are political videos such as Childish Gambino's This Is America the way to go, or should you avoid politics given that the world has had it up to here with fake news and bloviators?
