In the Studio with Simon Halsberghe
17:00 - 18:00
De Brakke Grond (G8 Studio One) | Nes 45, Amsterdam
Simon Halsberghe will lift a tiny bit of the veil of what it means to have a relationship to an instrument. Using the paradigm of experiment as exploration, he will “write drunk, edit sober” with two instruments he has a personal vibe with in front of the participating humans. In what will be something between a love letter and a technical explanation Simon will aim to convey and express a love for knowledge as the basis for his artistic practice. Topics touched upon will be: auto-poetic sound generation (how to make sounds with the octatrack without using existing samples) and auto-poetic subharmonic composition (how to get magically get harmony out of a wibble-wobble modular bleep machine). At the end of this hour participants will be expected to be able to transpose these ideas into their own personal relationships with instruments and musical technology, and lead more full-filling artistic lives.
