A Road Map for People on the Road Part 2 - Say What? How Is Your Hearing Holding Up?
12:40 - 13:20
DeLaMar Theater (D4 Panel Room) | Marnixstraat 402, Amsterdam
To a musician or a music fan, the thing that enables them to be what they are is their ability to hear. So why are so many people still so blasé about ear protection, especially when speakers are becoming ever more efficient and even more damaging? As panel moderator Dave Clarke says, it can be simple for DJs: “I never stay long in the “line of fire”, in fact only during my set, simply to protect my ears. I also have a graphic EQ on my monitors to take out the harsher frequencies which makes them less damaging.” But what can people who like being at the centre of the noise and energy do to avoid ear damage while still having fun? And how can you know when you’re going too far?
