In the past ten years Austin, Texas based online beat licensing platform BeatStars grew from a closed community of a handful producers to housing over 700.000 registered users and millions of active monthly visitors generating close to 20 million dollars annually. BeatStars producers from all over the globe have been selling beats online and to major international recording stars like Future, Migos, Nicki Minaj, Tekashi 6ix9ine, Kodak Black, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Ab-Soul and many others. The beat platform’s key strategy: it enables beat makers and producers to license their works to artists across the world through non-exclusive deals, thus maintaining their rights and ownership.
In this talk, founder and CEO Abe Batshon discusses his mission to help create a new and sustainable economy for music producers worldwide to make a living outside of the traditional music industry. He believes the music industry is at the dawn of a ‘golden age for beat discovery and producer empowerment’ and will illustrate how his digital marketplace for producers is at the forefront of this beats industry evolution.
Dutch producer Tantu Beats, who was amongst the first generation of producers who started promoting their beats through YouTube, will share his experiences on the online beats market.
