There's no doubt that some YouTube channel curators have what is often referred to as the common touch, and that's exactly what great A&R executives have too, the ability to see quicker and more clearly than others what any given audience wants when they hear it. So, given their enormous popularity, is it unreasonable to suggest that in fact the people who have their fingers on the pulse of today's audience, are the ones with the most subscribers on YouTube? And if so, shouldn't labels be queuing up to employ them? How do these hugely popular channel curators really stack up against proven A&R talent working at labels?
