PRESENTATION
After a successful debut in London last year, Techno and the City – Cities as Radical Soundtracks travels to Amsterdam for the 2017 edition of Amsterdam Dance Event. Part of ADE Playground programme, Techno and the City will showcase a selection of techno-art pieces from international and local artists. The intervention is hosted by LAB 111.

The exhibition will feature art from Abdul Qadim Haqq, Daniel Chazme, Julien Pacaud, Kathrin Kuhn, Mark Dancey, Michael Lange, Nicola Napoli, Rudy Loewe, Stefan Fähler and Uros Djurovic. Artworks include original material for labels such as Axis, Tresor and Dystopian, as well as dance collectives like Room4Resistance. For more details see our artists page.

THE CONCEPT
Techno and the City is a nomadic intervention that travels across cities. We believe that techno is not only about music and listening. Techno is also vision and arts, it is dance and body movement, it is about text and stories too.

LAUNCH
The launch of Techno and the City 2017 will see a presentation of the artworks by the collective Techno&Philosophy and an open discussion about the evolution of Techno-Arts. As Amsterdam Dance Event unfolds throughout the city, we will discuss how Techno spreads across music, dance and the visual arts.

The launch will open with Gender Fuck[er], a live dance performance by internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Keren Rosenberg. Gender Fuck[er] is an exciting collaboration between performer Keren Rosenberg & choreographer and photographer Graham Adey and the gender-neutral fashion brand NOBODY HAS TO KNOW. A one of a kind dialogue between dance and fashion, celebrating gender fluidity and design.

The performance will be followed by interventions and an open discussion about the evolution of electronic arts with Professor and author Hillegonda Rietveld from the London South Bank University and Alessio Kolioulis from the collective Techno&Philosophy.

Starts at 7 PM. Free entry with RSVP (limited).
