DDJF: Who Is Responsible for the Mental Health of an Artist?
13:00 - 13:40
DeLaMar Theater (D4 Panel Room) | Marnixstraat 402, Amsterdam
The Dutch DJ Foundation (DDJF) is a group that actively supports DJs and producers. With so much discussion about mental health in the electronic music industry. DDJF members believe it is time to talk about where the responsibility lies. Is it the booker, as he’s in charge of the bookings and touring? is it the manager, who’s in charge of everything around the artist? Is it the tour manager, who’s in charge of the traveling and touring and has to take care of the artist in foreign countries? And maybe the parents could do more as they know their child best! Or is it, ultimately, the artist's own responsibility? What symptoms should you be ale to recognise when things aren’t going well with an artist? Can you help to prevent it and if so what should you do? Is there an unusual amount of mental pressure in the music industry? And if so why is that and where does it come from? But most importantly, why is this such a big issue right now, and why didn’t we hear much about it in the past? What has changed?
