Matt Medved heads Billboard's dance/electronic music department and cross-department content strategy, founding digital vertical Billboard Dance in May 2015 and scaling its growth strategies to other verticals (pop, hip hop, latin, rock, country, etc.). He holds law and master’s degrees from The George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Medved hosted the inaugural Electronic Music Awards in 2017 and has been interviewed as a guest expert by The Associated Press, TIME, GQ, CNN, CBS This Morning, Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, Access Hollywood, Grammy Pro, AOL Build, Cheddar, Billboard Radio China, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Orlando Sentinel, TV Guide Magazine, PIX 11 News and more. He has also spoken at Harvard Business School, SXSW, Winter Music Conference, EDMBiz, Amsterdam Dance Event, Canadian Music Week, International Music Summit, Oceanic Ibiza, XLIVE, International Music Festival Conference and more.

Before Billboard, Medved conducted human rights field research and wrote nearly $2 million in funded grants to the US Department of State and USAID as a consultant for conflict resolution NGO Search for Common Ground in Nigeria — where he also reached more than 6 million listeners as a resident DJ at Africa’s largest radio station.

As a DJ, producer and curator, Medved has performed at global festivals including Electric Zoo, Billboard Hot 100 Fest, Burning Man, Camp Bisco, Elements, Sunburn (India), Oasis (Morocco), Abroadfest (Spain), and radio (SiriusXM Electric Area, Rhythm 93.7 FM, WNUR 89.3 FM), and has signed releases to Interscope and Downtown Records.

Here he gives the opportunity to ask questions about breaking into the industry: Ask him anything!
