Come out and play around with tons of exciting machines and instruments. The Modular Maze at ADE Sound Lab features the following companies:

Bastl Instruments
Bastl Instruments is dynamic and community driven company focused on producing hand-made electronic musical instruments. The products mainly spring from the needs they have as musicians and range from tabletop instruments and utilities to modules for eurorack modular systems. Bastl is based in Brno, Czech Republic where they also run a small shop called It all started in 2011 as Standuino and transformed into Bastl in 2013.

Birdkids is an Austrian company and record label based in Vienna which designs and manufactures electronic musical instruments. The company’s main product line TheBateleur is a Modular Synthesizer System in the Eurorack format. Birdkids will be displaying the upcoming 42HP TheBateleur System, the world’s first entirely USB-Micro-B powered, mobile, modular system built around the 100% analogue, discrete VCO with a multimode Envelope, 16bit Midi-CV converter and Mixer/Noise. Birdkids will also be premiering the new birdsnest line, a studio-grade modular mixer/utility line for modular systems/performers/djs, at ADE.

Erica Synths
Erica Synths is a team of creative visionaries, musicians and genius engineers who develop unique and innovative musical instruments that stand out in terms of build quality, design, usage, and that solve problems that are not addressed elsewhere - saving modular patches with Matrix Mixer and Graphic series modules, intuitive interfaces with the Black series and distinctive ways of sound design using vacuum tubes in Fusion series modules.

Liine &
Liine, founded in 2010 with partners including Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva, makes music apps for professional musicians and hobbyists. Used in shows by professionals like Björk, Daft Punk and Deadmau5 for more than a decade, Lemur famously appeared in Daft Punk’s pyramid at their surprise cameo during Kanye West’s performance at the 2008 Grammy Awards. Lemur started life as a multi-touch control surface, predating the iPhone, and was reincarnated as an iOS app in 2011. Liine also make Skram, an iPad live jamming music sketchpad featured by Apple earlier in 2016.

Liine recently started a collaboration with modular manufacturer

ALEX4 Distribution is supplying synthesizers, modular systems, stepsequencers and other innovative electronic musical instruments over Europe. The brands that will be represented are:
Doepfer, AQA Elektrix, E-RM Erfindungsbüro.

Livestock Electronics
The guys at LiveStock Electronics started working together since January 2016, but already have big plans for their modular synth company. It is noticeable that their "modules" are meant to be more than just musical instruments. Heavily inspired by the chiptune and DIY-scene, they support users in modifying their modules, see constraints as a source of creativity and add an entertaining element in their visual designs. They combine science, music and technology in a fictional world (inspired by real events) where livestock is floating in space.

Jean Marcel Fricke. Born in Colombia, raised in Berlin. Bringing Berlin-Techno, by using Hardware produced in a family-owned Synth factory. Also known as MFB.

Verbos Electronics manufactures a line of Eurorack format synthesizer modules designed by Mark Verbos. Mark Verbos is a music producer/engineer and music equipment technician with 20 years of experience. He is known to the synth community for his work with vintage Buchla systems as well as custom modules that work with them. His designs are focused on discrete transistor circuits, hardware CMOS logic and various vintage electronics design techniques, however they are presented with an understanding of how modular gear is used by this generation. Verbos Electronics modules are made from the highest quality materials and are designed from the outside in. The panel design is clean, the knobs beautiful, the feel solid, and they are all thin enough fit in a "skiff". All modules are proudly designed and assembled in New York.

Neo is a music instrument everybody can play. So whether you have no musical talent, no time, or you just want to get a taste of playing an instrument, Neo will make it simple. Music is a sensory experience, while playing a traditional instrument sound is directly influenced by touch. This is often lost in digital instruments. Even though Neo is a digital instrument, your touch will still influence the sound.
Neo's base is a circular sequencer, which you play by placing marbles on the grid. Next to the base there is a collection of external sensory modules that influence the sound or make their own sounds.
For Neo you don't need years of practice nor any talent, Just play.

Formonium is a new electronic musical instrument designed by Marie Caye and Arvid Jense. The instrument originates from research into the relationships between shape and sound. Where most instruments maintain the same visual appearance, the Formonium’s shape changes while it’s being played. Its outline influences and adds texture to the sound it is producing. To allow the instrument to breach the confines of electronic music, vibration speakers generate haptic feedback in the hands of the musician, which, with the help of highly sensitive sensors, micro movements can be detected for more expressiveness. Through collaborations with musician/composers, the instrument is being explored in its musicality and interaction. As a part of an ongoing research program, we welcome everyone to join us in conversation about the future of hybrid instruments and of musical expressivity.

MODEL 1 is a performance instrument providing new creative possibilities to artists, and empowering them to PLAYdifferently. A mixer of uncompromising build quality, intuitive tactile controls and beautifully warm analog circuitry. MODEL 1 is engineered by Andy Rigby-Jones and co-designed by Richie Hawtin, with two years of testing, insight and refinement with artists, clubs and engineers from across the electronic music community. MODEL 1 has a unique offering of six fully featured input channels plus two stereo returns in a small format frame. It has many features not currently available on any comparable device, such as Input pre-amplifier drive control, hybrid filter/swept bell EQ, dual cue system, dual mixer linking system, and a fully balanced Tascam DB25 connector system. MODEL 1 is a purely analogue mixer featuring technology normally found in the finest studio consoles, such as a fully balanced mix buss, zero crossing detection for seamless filter & master EQ routing along high voltage differential power rails.
