The 90s saw a significant breakthrough for Belgian acts with Technotronic and 2 Unlimited alongside labels like Bonzai, ARS, Byte and R&S establishing themselves as major global players. It was also a time when dance music in the form of house and the homegrown sub-genre nu beat took over Belgian clubs, eventually producing acts like Lords of Acid, 2manydjs and their label Soulwax. Now the country's latest generation of music makers is once again making its mark on the international scene led by Lost Frequencies a.k.a. Felix de Laet, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Basto, Coone, The Magician and Henry PFR. On top of that the local scene features a range of hugely popular festivals including Tomorrowland, Summerfestival, Transardentes, Sunrise Festival, and Laundry Day. Some of the country's top music industry figures discuss their influences and inspiration and how this small country of 11 million people keeps on reinventing itself and its electronic scene.
