Data Panic - Where Is The Money?
13:30 - 14:15

Bad data is the result of a system which does not work (on the publishing side/ISWC codes) plus the failure to adopt a universally accepted metadata standard format, and alongside that the failure to enforce it as a requirement, something which the distributors and portals could easily do. And even if we were to reach that objective, we could still be left with bad data caused by people filling in required data fields with wrong information just to get it done, but 80% or more return under an inefficient system over the chaos we are currently dealing with is preferable - especially if the principle of standard format metadata in each digital music file to enable automated reporting, processing, and payments can be established.
