Compagnietheater (C6 Main Hall) | Kloveniersburgwal 50, Amsterdam

At the ADE Sound Lab hotspot Compagnietheater, ADE will once again host a series of MusicTalks. The MusicTalk series features Q&A’s with artists, and most are free for music enthusiasts and fans as well as for ADE delegates. Three days packed with some of the worlds’ biggest artists engaging in live Q&A’s with the audience, sharing their experiences, opinions, and their passion for music! Questions allowed!

Daniel Miller (Mute, GB)
It's hard to think of anyone whose contribution to dance and electronic music has been as foundational as Daniel Miller's. His band The Normal, with “Warm Leatherette” in 1978, created one of the most important blueprints for electronic music this side of Kraftwerk, and Mute, the record label he founded to release it, has nurtured the careers of untold pioneers. Artists from Depeche Mode to Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire to Goldfrapp – and on the Novamute sub-label the likes of Richie Hawtin, Luke Slater and Miss Kittin – changed the face of music again and again. Still working hard and occasionally DJing too, Daniel remains as in love with experimental sound today as he ever was.

Moderator: Shawn Reynaldo (US)

Shawn Reynaldo is a freelance music journalist based in Barcelona. These days, he's perhaps best known for his work with RBMA Radio, where he anchors the weekly First Floor program. Elsewhere, he's also contributed as a writer to outlets like Resident Advisor, Red Bull Music Academy, NPR and SPIN, and previously spent a number of years as the editor of XLR8R. A Bay Area native, he's also been responsible over the years for a few record labels (Icee Hot, Bersa Discos, Double Negative), some groundbreaking parties (Icee Hot, Tormenta Tropical), and has spent plenty of time in DJ booths (and on dancefloors) around the globe.
