A look back at 2017: a celebration of hiphop's global moment

20-03-2018

  • A look back at 2017: a celebration of hiphop's global moment

Last year's edition hundreds of national and international delegates visited our networking and business conference on Friday October 20th 2017 in Melkweg, Amsterdam, to get inspired by our program on hip-hop’s global moment, with talks on scenes and markets from all over the world, from London to Abidjan, from afrobeats to reggaeton, and from a Wu-Tang Clan album conceived in Morocco to a wildly successful global music network based on Caribbean sound system culture . We hosted the first ever latin urban music panel at Amsterdam Dance Event together with Sony Music, talked about strong music scenes and markets on the African continent with key figure Romain Bilharz, heard JAE5 share his stories about producing a record that just two days earlier was nominated for four Mobo Awards in the UK and witnessed an amazing masterclass by mentor of legends Amp Fiddler. We researched rising hip-hop markets, business opportunities and opportunities for creative talent in a world that is rapidly getting smaller.

Exciting kick-off at the Noisey x ADE Beats Sessions

We kicked off ADE Beats 2017 with complete mayhem, at the Noisey presents: ADE Beats Sessions at VICE Media HQ, our platform for the newest and most exciting artists and emerging sounds from our scene. If you could not make it in anymore, at least we still have the pictures. :)

In case you missed out, here you can listen to their music on spotify, ask a friend if he would like to share the speciial gift from ADE Beats and Ruyzdael we handed out last year.

We closed down ADE Beats on Saturday the 21st with a truly special and  exclusive pre album showcase of Zwart Licht at Melkweg Amsterdam with strictly new tracks from Zwart Licht’s upcoming album.
