Kenny Dope Gonzalez to celebrate his 25 year career at ADE MusicTalks
The NYC based artist will be present at ADE's unique artist/fan forum in De Brakke Grond.
Gonzalez may well be in his 25th year as a DJ, producer, remixer and composer, but his passion and enthusiasm are burning as brightly as ever. “I got a whole load of new tracks coming up including Bricks Down with Robert Owens, Hands Up High with Neysa, and I just finished working on a track called Back To The Old Skool with a producer I really like a lot called Man Without A Clue. Much of the material I’m working on currently you’d describe as soulful house, but I’m doing a some techno tunes as well.” Clearly 25 years in the business is a big moment for any artist, and Gonzalez will be celebrating it by releasing one record for each year, starting later this year.
Reflecting on the huge global popularity of dance music these days, Gonzalez admits to being delighted with the way things are: “When I‘m in the DJ booth, I look out and I see a much younger crowd, but I’m still here and I’ve seen all the different phases of clubs and clubbing since the 90s. I love the fact that the underground sound is now mainstream for a lot of people, that opens doors and creates opportunities. Club music has come so far from where it started, it’s truly an amazing thing.”
