A perfect storm of challenges is brewing for the live sector, for the live industry and large-scale live events, The technical skill gap caused by COVID is resulting in events having to be cancelled or downscaled because they are unable to find enough lighting and sound technicians, transport and energy costs are rising at unprecedented rates, and as a result ticket prices and the cost of onsite catering are also being pushed up. And all this is happening against a background of a general drop in how much disposable income people have available. It's crunch time for the live industry, so we asked some leading players to share with us what they intend to do in the short and medium term, how they intend to adapt their business models, and what role new technologies might be able play in creating new, cheaper and less site-specific events.
